Hilah Ayers Wilderness RV Park (www.hilahayers.com) is a family-oriented resort and campground located in central Alberta at Pigeon Lake. We are the proud home of the Pigeon Lake Music Festival and a member of the local business community for over 35 years. We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our team to oversee and execute work on a variety of projects throughout the campground. The successful candidate will be loyal, reliable, energetic, and meticulous. Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years of managing a team (preferred).
- Experience with plumbing, electrical, and construction/carpentry.
- Knowledge of maintaining and developing plumbing and electrical infrastructure will be considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Skid steer (JCB) knowledge and experience will be considered an asset.
- Previous campground work experience will be considered an asset.
Job Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that all physical aspects of the property are fully functional, safe, and presentable. Below highlights typical responsibilities associated with this role:
- Facilities Maintenance - Overseeing the maintenance of buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other resort facilities.
- Preventive Maintenance - Implementing a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce the risk of future malfunctions or breakdowns.
- Staff Management - Scheduling staff shifts and assigning daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Budget Management - Controlling maintenance costs while ensuring the quality of work is upheld.
- Inventory Control - Managing inventory of maintenance supplies and parts.
- Compliance and Safety - Conducting safety training, inspections, and implementing workplace safety protocols.
- Record Keeping - Maintaining detailed records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
- Energy Management - Identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs.
- Groundskeeping - Overseeing landscaping and the maintenance of outdoor spaces, including gardens, paths, and parking lots.
- Tenant Relations - Interacting with tenants as needed when specific maintenance issues affect their lots.
- On-call, Evening, and Weekend Services - During the resort season: Weekend and evening enforcement of resort rules and regulations. During the off-season: At least twice per week visual surveillance throughout the resort. Responding to urgent maintenance requests and coordinating rapid and effective solutions. Being on-call for emergencies that may occur outside of regular business hours.
The role requires a blend of technical knowledge and practical experience. The Maintenance Manager must be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively to manage the diverse needs of the resort’s infrastructure.
We offer a competitive salary and accommodation/benefits package outlined below:
- Full-time, seasonally between April 1 – November 15 of each year, and will need to be on-site during the off-season, November 16 – March 31.
- 40 hours per week, with evenings and weekends as required.
- Year-round accommodations with supplied internet and utilities – A modern 16’ X 76’, 1,216 square foot modular home will be provided as part of remuneration. As a result, a background check may be required, as well as a security deposit.
- Company truck with fuel and insurance coverage.
- The salary between April 1 – November 15 is $3640/month.
- In addition to the seasonal salary, the employment accommodations/benefits package is valued at over $30,000 per year.
