Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Redwater office is recruiting for Maintenance Supervisor to join the team. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit, part of Pembina’s Facilities Division.


NBU is involved in the Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms – Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). Fractionation involves separating the different products in an NGL mix out into Ethane, Propane and Butane.


The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a dynamic team responsible for overseeing maintenance work execution across the facility. The Redwater maintenance execution team currently includes five routine maintenance execution teams: Rotating Equipment, Static Equipment, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Analyzers, each having a Foreman leader.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, visible commitment and engagement with direct reports, employees and contractors to meet or exceed Pembina’s health, safety, environment, and security goals;
  • Ensuring maintenance work execution is effectively and efficiently coordinated across all maintenance disciplines and aligned with operational priorities;
  • Working with stakeholders to provide guidance and priority to maintenance work execution teams on initiatives, i.e. nonstandard work;
  • Implementing changes to processes and tools at the right size and level to help the site achieve operational excellence;
  • Ensure that safety incidents are responded to and managed in a timely manner, escalating where necessary and that quality investigation are conducted to ensure learnings are recognized and implemented;
  • Contribute to a team environment that values inclusion and diversity, as well as support Pembina’s ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) objectives;
  • Be an active member of the Maintenance Leadership Team, supporting goal and budget development, management decisions and operational excellence in service of Pembina’s strategic priorities and values: Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful Collaborative, Entrepreneurial;
  • Play a key role in guiding the evolution of Pembina’s Maintenance Management System PMM and work coordination model through Pembina’s IPSECA (Identify, Plan Schedule, Execute, Close and Action) process to deliver quality work execution;
  • Oversee the maintenance work execution function for routine maintenance, major maintenance, and short notice outages;
  • Provide leadership and development to the Maintenance Foremen and their individual team members to ensure that the maintenance team functions (mechanical rotating, mechanical static, electrical, instrument & controls, site service, etc.) receive effective guidance, coordination and mentorship;
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports;
  • Ensure that all mandatory Maintenance Department training requirements are met and consistently applied across all maintenance technician teams;
  • Steward the development, reviews and updates of the Maintenance Department procedures and work execution processes;
  • Work in collaboration with Operations, Engineering and Business Unit (e.g. warehouse) leadership to identify improvement opportunities, and help prioritize and organize initiatives impacting the maintenance department;
  • Develop goals that include KPIs for measuring and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance work execution performance;
  • Provide fiscal oversight through effective use of Pembina business systems, processes and KPIs in support of cost-effective operations;
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements as they pertain to routine maintenance team’s accountabilities and responsibilities;
  • Support MOC project design and implementation using work management processes and tools; and
  • Maintain a culture in support of Continuous Improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman trade or technologist certification, with relevant industrial plant experience;
  • Related leadership or management experience in maintenance leadership within a heavy industrial operations environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to interface positively with management, field, engineering and technical support personnel;
  • Strong working knowledge of Maintenance Management Processes (e.g. IPSECA) and Systems (SAP preferred);
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in addressing a variety of customer opportunities, requests, and concerns in mutually beneficial manner;
  • A commitment to continuous leadership development, be results oriented, with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and leads change with an open mind and in a positive manner;
  • Good understanding of jurisdictional regulatory frameworks as they apply to maintaining industrial assets;
  • Fostering an environment of inclusion and diversity that continues to contribute towards values of team and collaboration;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and demonstrated aptitude working with other business-related computer programs and applications; and
  • Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.


The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Redwater.


The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
