Reports to: Senior Manager, Accounting

Purpose of the Role The Manager, Accounting is responsible for providing comprehensive, accurate and timely financial reporting. They are responsible for completing the required delegated activities associated the processes relating to the month-end close, P&L and Balance Sheet adjustments and reconciliations. They will ensure adherence to IFRS reporting standards. The Manager, Accounting completes all required internal controls as it relates to ICFR processes including updating control documentation and completing remediation activities for internal control processes that the role has been delegated. They are also responsible for providing information as requested relating to the annual financial statement audit activities.

Core Accountabilities

• Manage the Month end close schedule and lead month end meetings
• Complete all month-end close processes and accounting activities including opening and closing accounting periods, approval of Journal entries and reconciliations to enable the close to occur in C+5 days
• Review and approve all direct report prepared account reconciliations in a timely manner
• Responsible for reporting and/or analytical month end activities.
• Implement new or revised accounting policies, practices, and procedures for reporting
• Ensure ICFR internal controls are maintained, including updating the documentation for the controls
• If gaps are assessed by audit functions, remediate gaps as per committed timelines
• Complete any documentation requirements for the year-end audit process with the External Auditors and Internal Audit (as necessary)
• Ability to perform ad hoc projects
• Business partnering with Accounts Payable, Procurement and Materials Management to ensure related processes and account balances are maintained in a current status
• Work with external Tax partners to ensure the year end tax provision, partnership returns, and income tax returns are prepared accurately and filed on time.
• Review and approve all indirect tax returns to enable timely filing and payment of taxes

Qualification and Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience
• University Degree
• Accounting Designation, CPA preferred
• Experience with large ERP system
• Good working knowledge of month end close processes and taxation,
• Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
• IFRS knowledge an asset
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to work with a variety of people in a team environment
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in order to research and escalate issues
• Solid organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
• Good ability to develop and maintain effective relationships

This is a hybrid role.

Hiring Range: 92,600 - 118,000

The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.

In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
