About the role
As a Manager, Commercial Auto your work will have a big impact on the overall direction and management of employees in the Commercial Auto underwriting department. You will be responsible for motivating and developing a high performing team, leading by example, and driving engagement. You will also enhance and develop Broker relationships and maintain a strong customer-focused approach while advising on solutions. Reporting to the Commercial Auto Director, you will drive and influence the way we shape the Commercial Auto book of business in the Alberta region. This is permanent hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days in the Edmonton office.
This role will offer you the chance to:
Ensuring the team provides outstanding customer service that goes beyond our customers' expectations with timely & effective communication.
Develop a strong sales culture and deliver an effortless customer experience.
Provide inspiring leadership including performance feedback, continuous learning, career development, and succession planning
Collaborate within the department as well as with other departments to accomplish branch objectives.
Build strategic relationships liaising with other underwriting managers, corporate underwriting and claims management on technical and administrative issues.
Build productive and profitable, results based relationships with brokers.
Set strategic goals and objectives for direct reports and assign responsibilities.
Monitor and track the metrics directing resources to ensure efficient and effective administration of the department and quality customer service.
Implement necessary action plans to keep service levels, efficiency, productivity, and quality on track.
Manage the commercial auto book for profitability implementing and managing profitability plans, premiums, losses, and direct expense targets.
Review potential portfolio transfers and acquisitions
What you bring to the table:
Management experience with strong skills in coaching and mentoring, and proven success in team building, profitable growth and managing relationships
Minimum 2 years insurance management experience
Commercial auto insurance experience is an asset
Strong sales skills to negotiate and sell effectively with brokers
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
Proven track record of desk management and organizational skills
CIP or FCIP preferred
