Position Summary and Scope of Service

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and consistent with the Mission, Values and policies of St.Amant, the Manager, Facilities is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations.

Manager, Facilities is responsible for overseeing building operations across multiple locations, including commercial and residential. Management of a team of individuals with various trades' backgrounds in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services for St.Amant. The Manager, Facilities is responsible for the execution of activities performed by the various trades to ensure that work is performed in accordance all relevant codes, standards and legislation. The working conditions of the Manager, Facilities will include moderate physical effort on regular basis. (Examples: standing, walking, sitting, entering confined space, working from heights, etc)

Qualifications

One or more of the following:


  • Journeyman level Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Journeyman level Refrigeration license
  • Journeyman level Electrical license
  • Journeyman level Plumbing license
  • Journeyman level Carpenter
  • Power Engineering License
  • Gasfitter A or B

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Previous people leadership experience is required
  • Facility operations and maintenance work experience, including grounds keeping
  • Ability to maintain and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment, including BMS/BAS
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
  • Possess strong customer service skills along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or similar software
  • The ability to establish, maintain positive and productive working relationships
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and respect in all interactions
  • Ability to generate ideas to improve work procedures and contribute to an environment that fosters growth, development and innovation

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the maintenance department
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed
  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules based on priorities
  • Leads a team of individual contributors including coaching and training of direct reports
  • Assigns, prioritizes and monitors work progress
  • Oversees and performs regular facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to minimize operations service.
  • Provides observations about facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair.
  • Maintains the work order system.
  • Coordinates and assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained
  • Coordinates and participates in facility-related projects
  • Oversees and maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required.
  • Provides, participates and supports training, safety meetings, operational meetings, “tool box” talks, etc.
  • Must be able and willing to be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
  • Assists in enhancing customer satisfaction from the different program areas and maintaining positive relations through a manner in which work is performed and services delivered
  • Work within allotted maintenance budget
  • Cooperates with the Workplace Health and Safety committee and adheres to the regulations that are mandated by the Department of Labour to ensure the continuous development of a safe workplace
  • Attends training, seminars, educational conferences as identified
  • Other duties as assigned

St.Amant is a bilingual organization. Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check.

As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases. Successful applicants will also be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
