Magna Golf Club, one of Canada's most exclusive private clubs located in Aurora, Ontario, is seeking a Human Resource Manager to join our amazing team. As the HRM, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organizational culture at Magna Golf Club. Working in collaboration with the General Manager and ownership group, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with our mission. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including strategic partnership, health and safety oversight, regulatory compliance, employee communication, recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, engagement, and analytics.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Strategic Partnership
- Lead human resource initiatives, implementing processes to streamline HR efficiencies.
- Foster an inclusive HR program across all departments and employees.
- Collaborate on departmental organization layouts and succession plans.
- Participate in developing company goals, objectives, and systems.
- Provide leadership and advice on HR issues in operations and management meetings
Recruitment
- Attract talent through proactive recruitment techniques.
- Rewrite job descriptions, as necessary.
- Establish and implement appropriate recruiting methods based on hiring needs. Manage the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), posting jobs, screening questions and candidate talent pool.
- Pre-screen candidates and assist department managers with recruitment as needed.
- Market job vacancies internally and externally.
- Source candidates through non-traditional methods.
- Plan and participate in job fairs (internally and externally) as required.
Onboarding and Training
- Prepare and distribute employment contracts and onboarding packages.
- Design training plans aligned with legislative and company requirements.
- Assign online training, maintain training records and new hire documentation.
- Maintain and distribute on-the-job training packages and employee handbooks.
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Function as a liaison between employees and management.
- Counsel supervisors on employee performance issues, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations as needed.
- Recommend and implement policies and procedures to improve effectiveness.
- Oversee the performance management and KPI program for all employees.
Health and Safety
- Oversee the health and safety program, aiming to reduce workplace accidents and illnesses.
- Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee, ensuring its effectiveness in employee health and safety.
- Develop and maintain health and safety program/documentation.
- Implement policies and procedures as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Provide documentation and instruction to all employees on health and safety procedures and programs.
- Submit and manage all WSIB claims including lost time and disability.
- Train and communicate to managers the appropriate channels to follow in case of accident, incident, or critical injury.
- Identify and ensure completeness of training requirements.
- Update, complete and post safety manuals.
- Ensure correction of unsafe acts or conditions.
- Ensure Magna Golf Club has current Insurance and WSIB information from all contractors/ sub-contractors.
- Ensure First Aid training is up to date, coordinate training as needed.
Regulatory, Payroll, Benefits and Financial
- Stay up to date with and ensure compliance with all employment-related and labour legislation, providing timely guidance when changes occur.
- Create and manage annual department budget.
- Research and participate in wage subsidy programs.
- Administer group health and insurance benefit programs.
- Oversee the payroll function ensuring proper payment of employees and adherence to all regulatory requirements, payments, and deductions.
Employee Communication and Programing
- Maintain employee information boards and legally required workplace postings.
- Celebrate employees and recognize those who work The MGC Way.
- Author the MGC Crew News monthly newsletter.
- Communicate effectively through various platforms on employment matters, club happenings, and events.
- Create visually stimulating communication pieces for distribution and posting.
- Provide open and honest communication.
Analytics
- Identify employment trends and liabilities using current data.
- Track various metrics, including labour cost analysis, health and safety, recruiting success rates, and turnover statistics.
- Run the annual employee opinion survey, analyze results, and disseminate findings.
- Establish and maintain employee related records and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources; Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation or working towards CHRL is highly desirable.
- 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably from a hospitality setting, with 5 years of leadership experience.
- Ontario JHSC certification is an asset.
- Exceptional communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding people skills; including active listening and effective counseling abilities.
- Proven ability to build consensus, maintain integrity, and manage confidential information.
- A confident, professional, and energetic individual with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrate organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
