What can I expect to do in this role?

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement it's business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry, while getting your "hands dirty" by conducting your own research and writing reports and other briefing materials. You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by:
• Leading research and analysis that identify and collect essential data and intelligence for use in data models.
• Anticipating future data needs and proactively build and improve upon our tools and models through project planning and using knowledge management tools (such as writing research papers).
• Using our models and other analysis to help forecast infrastructure needs based on a variety of scenarios.
• More generally, providing evidence-based recommendations to inform infrastructure policies and investments.

How do I qualify?

Leadership experience:

• You have experience managing teams or informally leading project teams within large, complex work environments.
• You are an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment where all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute.
• You have or are developing coaching skills to support the growth and development of team members in a technical environment.
• You have experience leading the planning and execution of data intelligence projects (e.g. research projects, feasibility studies, predictive modelling, decision support systems).

Influencing through data:

• You have experience using data-driven insights to inform, shape and influence decision-making processes.
• You excel at presenting complex and/or technical data in a comprehensible and persuasive manner.
• You have considerable experience writing research papers that clearly document data sources and methodology used to conduct the research.

Technical expertise:

• Applied research methodologies: You have experience developing and implementing innovative research methodologies to address complex scenarios where ideal data or information is unavailable.
• Data management and analysis: You have knowledge of the processes, systems and tools for storing, manipulating, analyzing and visualizing large datasets.
• Analytical experience: You have expert-level proficiency in one or both of economic analysis and financial analysis, with proficiency in geospatial analysis and/or infrastructure needs assessments using tools such as cost-benefit analysis being a bonus.
