Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) Acheson location, the Planning Supervisor will report to the Operations Manager.
The Manufacturing Supervisor - Planning will ensure that strategic material planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity. Takes a coordinating lead, working closely with internal and external parties to ensure the supply of materials is in place to satisfy production requirements. Able to deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum inventory levels, whilst optimising costs.
- Coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication to ensure project materials are identified, expedited, and delivered to support the project schedule.
- Lead the monitoring, reviewing, and analysis of the schedule and status during all project phases, including analyzing schedule deviations and creating corrective actions.
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Creating team schedules and delegating tasks to ensure proper workflow, and ensuring team members meet deadlines for critical projects and tasks.
- Ensure systems settings/tables are maintained to provide accurate information tools and tables.

- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Assess employee performance, identify improvement areas and provide performance reviews to human resources and senior managers.
- Analyze/adjust inventory levels to coincide with lead time changes and ensure that the dates from the schedule are met on the expected date.
- Review open requirements, monitor intercompany performance, and expedite where necessary.
- Assure that problems relating to delivery and quality are promptly reported to the internal stakeholders and resolved promptly.
- Assure that orders are entered into and updated within the computer system accurately and timely and that all order information is complete.
- Monitor and notify manufacturing supervisors of any shortages on upcoming jobs and jobs on the production line.
- Attend daily production meetings with Master Scheduler.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Working Environment
- The employee typically performs duties in both a manufacturing shop and in a normal office environment.
- There will be exposure to the elements of our shop.
- Additionally there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
