Job Purpose
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with various departments to manage the efficient flow of all materials. A large focus for this position is data entry with minimum time spent on the floor.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist Materials manager & projects team in project-related activities as required (e.g. production tracking, drawing updates)
- Initiate work packages to be releasing to warehouse for allocation
- Coordinate the movement and storage of materials, including raw materials, fabricated pipes, and related supplies, within the pipe fabrication facility
- Receive material into internal database
- Coordinates materials for delivery to the shop
- Tracks the allocation of materials
- Verify materials allocated by warehouse are correct
- Transfer relevant information from warehouse to fabrication shop for work
- Monitors received material and matches to purchase orders
- Searches inventory records to determine if enough material quantity is on hand
- Follows-up with vendors and internal sources to confirm and schedule incoming material delivery
Qualifications
- Proven experience in material coordination or a similar role within the pipe fabrication industry
- Knowledge of pipe fabrication materials, processes, and safety requirements
- Familiarity with inventory management software and tools, such as Jovix, Vintri etc. is considered an asset
- Knowledge and competency on reading, understanding and digesting MTR, Heat #’s and project material requirements
- High School diploma is required
- Some post-secondary education is preferred
- Flexibility within working hours and ability to provide backup coverage as directed
Skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office including; Excel, Word are required
- Must possess the knowledge of basic construction processes (e.g. drawings, building material)
- Possess superior organizational skills in managing multiple deadlines and can jump between multiple tasks with multiple deadlines
- Capability to perform routine tasks with a high level of accuracy
- Capability to work in fast-paced environments

Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
