Our Amherstburg manufacturing site is well known for the production of Crown Royal Whiskey. Canada's leading premium Canadian whisky. Crown Royal was blended to commemorate a grand tour of Canada by Queen Elizabeth and King George VI in 1939. There are currently ~200 employees on site with 4 Bottling lines producing approx. 5-6M (9L) cases of Crown Royal in 7 sizes.
What about the role?
We’re looking for a Senior Material Quality Specialist Team Leader in our Amherstburg Plant. The role reports to site Governance Manager and has 3 main functions;
- to manage supplier, customer and consumer needs and expectations while keeping supplier and end product quality of the utmost importance
- to ensure compliance with applicable legal and Diageo requirements and FSSC 22000 v 6.0 and ISO9001: 2015 and standards
- to ensure continuous improvement of Quality, Food Safety through internal and external audits.
What will you be doing?
- Responsible for incoming supplier Product Specification being met
- Onboarding and trialing new supplier materials
- Maintain Food Safety and Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, HACCP, Food Safety, FSSC programs and other regulatory standards
- Adherence to Quality Management Systems in accordance with legal requirements and company standards (GRMS) in the plant
- Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment at all stages and keep them up to date. Coordinates and performs periodical internal audits in the production area and ensure HACCP and GMP are applied
- To support risk analysis and HSE training activities at the plant
- Carry out audits within the scope of GRMS, SFIP and SQIP report the findings and monitor the completion of the actions and to support the factories where necessary
- Lead the Food Safety team and analyze the findings and ensure necessary actions are taken to prevent re-occurrence
- Have knowledge about the relevant legal regulations and standards and follow up of legislative requirements
- Continuous improvement by maintaining improvement studies in quality and food safety projects
- Key User of Harford Quality System to analyze data and drive improvements
- Monitor daily quality activities and daily non-conformances. Initiate, review and update quality reports. Manage pest control program
- Carrying out some occupational safety and environmental activities as needed
- Perform the trainings related with quality standards
- Investigate consumer complaints & related actions and take preventive and corrective actions for quality non-conformances
- Provide Quality/Food Safety Technician coverage as required assist Operations
- Promote and drive food safety culture
- Follow up and prepare KPIs reports
- Lead ongoing Quality Projects
What we are looking for;
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Food Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Food Manufacturing Consumer Goods sector
- Acknowledge of Production/ Plants dynamics in FMCG sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent skills in MS Office applications
- Result oriented
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- High resilience, agility and teamwork
