This position will ensure the safe and efficient delivery of all Marine Emergency Duty courses using lifesaving Equipment provided by WMI for any location the company delivers courses.

This position is integral in supporting our Marine Emergency Duties (MED) courses and Instructors at Western Maritime Institute. Key Responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities will include Essential Functions and some Additional duties but are not limited to the following:
Essential Functions:
· Maintains, refills, and/or repairs all equipment used in MED training courses including but not limited to the following: Fire simulator (including Fire Pumps and associated systems), SCBA’s, FF PPE, Fire Extinguishers, Breathing Air Compressor, and associated Log and record books.
· Act as the “Ignition Officer “for the Fire control Team during life fire training evolutions. Issue of Firefighting gear and associated equipment during MED courses.
· Maintains, repacks, and/or repairs all LSE used in MED training courses including but not limited to the following: Survival Craft and Launching Arrangements, Life rafts, Life Jackets, Immersion Suits, Training pool and associated equipment, Logs and record books.
· Provide assistance during related LSE training courses when required
· Issue of Life saving equipment during MED courses.
· Carries out regular inventory of MED training equipment, advising of need and ordering replacement items as directed.
· Packs equipment required for off-site courses including dangerous goods documentation when required.
Additional Duties:
· Climb ladders, operate equipment, and work outdoors under various environmental conditions.
· Actively participates in yearly internal and external audits and maintains documents required or audits year round
· Basic knowledge and use of tools with respect to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical trades.
· Able to lift 50 lbs due to the significant physical requirements of this position.
· Maintain timely communication with Instructors and management team members
Performs all other work-related duties for this position as required.
Qualifications:
Pool Operator Level 1 an asset or willingness to obtain
Transportation of Dangerous Goods an asset or willingness to obtain
Scott SCBA Maintainer Factory Certification an asset or willingness to obtain

Expected hours: 8 hours Daily (Mon to Friday) and possible weekends (Depending on course schedule and requirements) at the Ladysmith campus location
Experience:
Relevant experience conducting Live Fire Training evolutions
Working with Various hand tools and equipment
Experience working and communicating with teams
Maintaining and updating accurate records and logs
Regular inventory and equipment inspections
Using, maintaining, and inspecting Life Saving Equipment

Salary: $300.00-$375.00 per day
