At SMS Equipment, our Mining Sales Representative is responsible managing sales of new heavy equipment used in the mining industry. They create and maintain solid long-term relationships with customers by leveraging their knowledge of markets, customer business and products. We are looking for someone who is tenacious, optimistic and a team player to join our growing sales team in Timmins, ON.
The salary for this role is $85,000 base rate, plus commission.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and build strong customer relationships that allow for new, continual and ongoing representation by becoming knowledgeable and involved in all aspects of customer relationships with SMS Equipment. Create effective territory management by completing written call reports and developing regular call schedules and close relationships with customer staff at all levels in their companies.
- Manage sales of equipment solutions by monitoring economic trends and new product development. Collaborate with the General Manager of Mining to set quotas and implement sales action plans.
- Meet personal sales targets as established. Focus on accounts which are stable in nature within identified markets or geography. Utilize company technical, sales and promotional resources to generate leads and achieve sales goals. Applies IMPACT sales process to achieve results.
- Special projects as assigned. Participate in major promotions, new product launches, and new marketing initiatives. Leverages professional associations and affiliations to build customer networks and relationships (i.e. LinkedIn, CIM, APEGA, etc).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful candidate will have a related education in trades, engineering, marketing, or a related field. This position requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the position. Additional qualifications include:
- A strong sales / engineering orientation is required with preference given to 5 - 7 years’ experience within the mining / industrial industry.
- The ability to operate in a diverse environment with a significant focus on client and customer relations.
- Must be ambitious and aggressive, proactively acquiring cutting edge technology and “best practise” pertaining to the Company’s products and services, enhancing expertise, performance and bottom line productivity.
- Must possess excellent abilities; be able to consistently make intelligent decisions under pressure; possess good judgement, initiative, good job attitude and be dependable, innovative and creative.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential.
- Possess and maintain a Valid Class 5 drivers’ license in a Canadian jurisdiction and ability to drive for extended periods of time.
- Own and maintain a suitable personal vehicle that can be used for sales calls and other business travel.
- Must be bilingual in English and French.
