Some of the duties and responsibilities for the Payroll Supervisor job opening in Toronto, ON may include but are not limited to:
- Lead the processing of all Canadian payroll on a biweekly basis
- Support, coach and mentor the Payroll Administrator; supervising a team of 5
- Reviewing timesheets, balancing payroll, and verifying payroll deductions and taxes
- Posting journal entries, reporting and preparing general ledgers as needed in the accounting system
- Prepare month end financial reports to present to Accounting
- Assist in the preparation of all T4's, ROE's, and payroll reports
- Liaise with the various payroll providers established for various Provinces
- Close interaction with the employees at the various sites/locations across Canada
- Reconciliation and accrual activities
- Deal with escalations and resolve errors/issues while ensuring smooth and open communication
- Other related duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing/administration experience; at least 1 year in a Supervisory/Team Lead capacity
- Advanced understanding of general payroll practices and legislation across the Canadian Provinces
- Experience working with union payroll
- Strong technical skills with experience using payroll software alongside advanced Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with employees, vendors and various departments of the organization
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work quickly in a time-sensitive setting while continuously supporting and mentoring your team
- Calm, motivating, mature and professional
