JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for the processing of bi-weekly computerized payroll for 8,000 unionized and non-unionized employees while maintaining employee files for all Lakeridge Health employees in accordance with corporate polices and collective agreements. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the Payroll team, and is one of the second level contacts for the payroll department for employees/managers to contact when needing answer related to their pay. All concerns must comply with payroll policies and procedures as well as collective agreements and processed in a timely manner. The incumbent will act as a source of information relating to payroll policies and procedures and will comply with internal and external audit requirements for both sites. The Payroll Supervisor will also be responsible for making sure all statutory payments are made to the appropriate third party and ensuring payments are made in a timely manner to avoid any and all penalties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for processing the bi-weekly payroll through Meditech software
  • Responsible for running reports for any exceptions to the policies and procedures, and collective agreements are verified by the Unit Manager and/or Human Resources/Labour Relations from hours entered
  • Responsible for finalizing by posting the payroll, verifying that the net pay balances with direct deposit compile. Compile the file, and send to the bank for processing of direct deposit payments and notifying Finance once pay has been completed.
  • Responsible for generating third party payments
  • Responsible for running bi-weekly reports
  • Processes all documentation received from Human Resources for terminated employees' to be processed for final payments. This includes but is not limited to verifying that all information is complete, and all information required for Payroll purposes is accurate
  • Provides processing for any and all special cheque requests that come due to employees' missing hours from their pay or grievance settlements requiring payments
  • Supports the administration of all Garnishee requirements and Family Support Payments on a bi-weekly basis to ensure payments are made correctly and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for calculating WSIB advances based on direction from Occupational Health

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of payroll experience
  • Canadian Payroll Association PCP designation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proven experience with payroll administration in a fully computerized environment - preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Experience working with defined pension plans
  • Working knowledge of pay calculations including applicable CRA source deductions
  • Experience working with multiple calculations for different types of payments due to different collective agreements including a non-union group.
  • Proven experience working in a fast paced, multi-tasked, deadline driven environment and ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated success in effectively organizing and prioritizing work assignments and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development;
