Main Responsibilities
You will engage directly with Grid Automation Markham product development, integration, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to deploy, maintain, migrate, and support computer network environments which provide solutions to global utility companies. You will also be an integral part of the team dedicated to delivering our Dev Ops strategy globally.
- Technical: Serve as technical authority for design, implementation, and ongoing administration and L2/3 support of core infrastructure [network, security, and virtualization] technologies that underpin Grid Automation Factories
- Technical: Provide tier 2/3 IT tech support to Grid Automation product support, customer project teams.
- Projects: Obtain sponsorship, articulate benefits to GE leadership teams. Own the development of detailed infrastructure/design documentation and technical implementation plans
- Security, risk and compliance: Work with Grid Automation IT Security Leader and relevant security contacts at Grid Solutions and Renewables levels to ensure IT
- Global coordination: Work with colleagues in Grid Solutions IT globally and other GE Digital business areas as appropriate to leverage innovative best-practice tech stacks and methodologies as appropriate to drive improved service levels and efficiency of core infrastructure
- Quality process: Ensure all tasks are carried out with respect to applicable processes and procedures [e.g. ISO9001 and ISO27001] applicable to site[s] and functions within job scope.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college and/or equivalent work/industry experience
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience in a technical hands-on position
- Have legal authorization to work in Canada and be aware that any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation
Desired Characteristics
- System administration: Windows and Linux - core competency to install, configure, manage.
- Network hardware: Cisco enterprise hardware. VLAN, ACL, routing and VPN - install, configure, manage
- Security management: Enterprise firewall equipment e.g. Cisco ASA or equivalent - install, configure, manage
- Access control: Windows Active Directory - install, configure, manage
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere clusters, experience with HA, DRS, and vStorage backup APIs desirable
