THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Director - Sustainability Health and Safety (SHS), the Senior Manager - Sustainability, Health & Safety (SHS) has accountability to continuously improve the Sustainability, Health & Safety (SHS) program performance by ensuring program implementation, adherence, and continuous improvement. This position supports operations leadership through consulting, coaching, and mentoring to ensure program implementation in alignment with strategic performance targets.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and executes a business plan ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategic plan and immediate manager's business plan.
- Ensures consistent application of the Badger safety program across the organization, by SHS professionals, Badger employees and other stakeholders.
- Maintains a strong safety culture across the assigned area and throughout Badger.
- Adheres to and enacts applicable regulatory changes and communicates the appropriate changes to Badger employees.
- Conducts priority-based area visits across the organization to engage though coaching, mentoring and trust.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of monthly SHS reporting.
- Enhances the integrity of the SHS program by ensuring safety policies, procedures, and training, is current and consistently applied.
- Works with our clients to support Badger's efforts to provide safe, efficient service.
- Consults with operations management to sell, sustain, and improve field safety programs.
- Supports accident and incident investigations, analysis and preparation of incident reports and summaries, including the preparation and distribution of "Safety Alerts" from post-accident results.
- Reviews new programs and recommends enhancements to our safety equipment (with specific focus on safety related training for Badger employees) that will improve Badger's overall safety culture.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Relevant Undergraduate degree, Graduate degree preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is preferred.
- 10+ years' experience preferred in the following Industries: Vacuum, Pump Trucks, or Fleet; Commercial Underground Construction and/or Utilities; Oil and Gas; and Waste.
- Knowledge of federal, state, provincial and local safety, transportation, and environmental regulations
- Knowledge of industry safety training.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30lbs. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.

- Position Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Other geographical areas may be considered. Working from a home office will be approximately 25% of the time.
- Travel: The position is required to travel approximately 75% of the time - across Canada and the USA. A vehicle will be provided when travelling locally.
