Miller Fence & Deck is all about building top-notch fences and decks for homes and businesses in the Greater Victoria area. We’ve been at this for a long time and our name means quality and trust in our community. Every day, we’re out there measuring, digging, and setting fences that make our customers smile. And we’re busy – which is exactly why we need you.
The Job:
We’re not looking for just anyone. We need an Office Pro – someone who can jump in and help manage the paperwork, keep our books in order, make sure everyone gets paid, and help the boss keep his calendar straight. It might sound like a lot, but we bet you’re the type of person who loves a good challenge. You have an excellent ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. This a part-time role but may grow as we grow. It’s ideal for remote work and it would be great if you could come to the office in person occasionally.
Your Tasks:
- Keep our financial records in check. That means working with our accountant and looking after invoices, payments coming in and going out, and payroll.
- Manage all of the quotes (prepared by our sales team), ensuring they are organized, get out on time, and look perfect. Help analyze each job for costing and feedback.
- Help our boss and our team with their schedules. Making sure everyone knows where they need to be and when. Co-ordinate our Safety Meetings.
- Answer calls and emails, making sure our customers and team have got what they need. Organize there owner’s e-mail and Google Drive files.
- Keep our office feeling like the team hub where everything’s under control.
- Take over administration tasks from the owner so he can do what he does best - sell!
Who You Are:
*** You live on south Vancouver Island and you’re legally entitled to work in Canada. ***
- You’ve got experience working in an office, and you’re pretty good with numbers.
- You know your way around a computer, especially with programs like Word and Excel. QBO experience would be an asset.
- You’re a people person – great at chatting on the phone or typing up a reply to an email. Your spoken and written English is excellent.
- You like figuring things out and solving problems when they pop up.
- You may be a local stay-at-home parent looking for a long-term, part-time challenge.
