Reporting to the Coordinator, Administrative Services, the Office Assistant provides clerical services such as reception, typing and record keeping in the various Mental Health and Addictions Services sites. Provides information with regards to Community Mental Health and Addictions Services to callers. Monitors waiting room for safety and comfort and diffusing potential escalating situations by communicating with client to encourage calmness and order and/or referring immediately to clinical staff if required. Provides word processing services for clinical staff by transcribing and formatting a variety of documents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Grade 12 graduation plus a Certificate in Medical Terminology. One year of recent related clerical experience involving dealing with the public, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to type a minimum of 55 words per minute.
- Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database and office communication software.
- Ability to operate related office equipment, e.g., Dictaphone, photocopier, facsimile.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with mentally ill clients.
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work as a member of a client-focused team.
