The Operations Team Leader oversees all end-to-end asset operations. Supervises team members / leaders for outbound and inbound Planning. They are also responsible for ensuring that assets are efficiently and strategically planned for outbound trips while maintaining a high fleet utilization. Ensuring that there is no bias dispatch provided to driver’s / owner operators by the planners. Trucks/drivers are planned and moving efficiently and accordingly with Hours of Service (HOS) laws. The Team Leader may also be responsible (when required) for maintaining customer relationships and building strategic relationships in order to achieve consistent, market (or above) rates and dedicated volumes.
Primary Objectives:
- Manage a team of 10-15 employees in the Dispatch Department
- Ensure that the department maximizes utilization in terms of miles per week with each and every unit with Hours-of-Service regulations.
- Ensure that all delivery/customer requirements are met as scheduled and booked
- Increase in house customer satisfaction by OTP
- Ensure that communication flows well from you, to planners, driver manager, to driver
- Ongoing personal/professional development of team members so that they are independent.
- Make sure that driver and owner operators get detention money approved by you or operations manager, so that they do not have to follow up.
- Please set targets for every planner and make sure they achieve / exceed them. Push productivity in an ethical manner.
- Provide feedback and advise management group on additional measures company needs to take to retain drivers and grow fleet.
- Co-ordinate with safety regarding driver training, disciplinary and procedural implementation.
Planning Assets
- Ensuring that all loads and their requirements meet Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and are planned on available assets accordingly
- Minimizing number of trucks at home/not on road/not rolling
- Continuous communication with supporting departments prior to committing to delivery requirements
Customer Service
- Maintaining a professional and loyal relationship with all brokers/customers
- Ensures that all in house customer requirements are adhered to and properly communicated to supporting team
- Communicates any service delays or failures to the customer/customer service representative prior to the occurrence
- Ensures that all pick up and delivery requirements are met to appropriate service levels
Additional
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned or directed by management as necessary to ensure the continued success of Wheel King and all departments/affiliates

Education & Experience
- This position generally requires at least 3-5 years of related dispatch experience.
- System training or experience required
- Asset planning experience required
