Manitoba Environment and Climate Change is seeking a qualified individual to join the team of Recreation & Education Services with Parks & Trails Division. This position represents and addresses the Parks Reservation Service (PRS) to the public, call centre staff, and field delivery staff. Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be willing and able to travel with occasional overnight accommodations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Must be able to work a variable 5-2 schedule to include weekends during the course of the camping season (May to September)

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Extensive experience providing clerical and administrative support in a public-facing or hospitality environment
  • Experience with accounting procedures including recording revenues, disbursements, reconciliations, and cash handling
  • Experience using database systems, such as Parks Reservation System, camp ground reservation administration software application, or similar customized software applications
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) or similar software applications
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to format and prepare a variety of written documents
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to deal with the public, over the phone and in-person
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and manage customer conflict
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and demands
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desired:
  • Knowledge of camping reservation policies and regulations in provincial parks
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in French

Duties:
Under the direction of the Parks Reservation Service (PRS) Supervisor, the Parks Reservation Service Specialist performs a variety of technical and administrative functions in PRS and supports other section programming (e.g. recreation programs, interpretation, and marketing). This position is front-line support to field staff and also responds directly to customer inquiries and the call centre, performs the day-to-day duties of the PRS, including financial management, inventory management, the application of technology, administration and call centre support, customer service, and collaborating with field delivery staff.
