Payroll & Administrative Clerk
(Part-time Temporary)
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Payroll & Administrative Clerk to join our organization on a temporary part-time basis. The Payroll & Administrative Clerk provides multi-faceted services to external and internal customers under the general supervision of the Director of Finance. The primary function of this role is processing bi-weekly payroll. In addition, this position provides clerical and administrative support for the Finance and Corporate Services departments.

Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality is a vibrant year-round, growing mountain tourism community boasting world class skiing, mountain biking, skating rink, hiking and golf and a core tourist village with some 850 hotel beds. Sun Peaks has a population of 1,500 year-round residents, and hosts on average 3,000 to 5,000 winter visitors and residents and some 1,000 to 3,000 daily summer visitors.
At a base elevation of 1,255m the unique European inspired walkable village is located 45 minutes from Kamloops in British Columbia’s interior. The community has a unique ski-in/ski-out public school, medical centre, and numerous recreational facilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Process biweekly payroll for all staff
- Process salary increases & administer the payroll requirements of employee leaves
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with legislative requirements
- Provide back-up assistance for general reception, cashiering, accounts payable and receivable and customer service
- Assist the Corporate Services Department with administrative tasks such as filing and maintaining corporate records
This is a part-time temporary position (approximately 20 hours per week) for six (6) months with the possibility of extension.
Rate of Pay: $26.00 per hour
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Experience using MS Office Suite with a strong proficiency in Excel and ability to navigate new software systems with confidence
- Ability to process complex information with accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, and presentation skills; be a clear team player, adaptable, and highly personable
- At least one year of post-secondary education in business, accounting, or office administration
- At least one year of customer service and cash handling experience, and a sound understanding of office and administrative practices, procedures, and standards
- Previous payroll experience preferred
