JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Assistant at PharmaChoice #9057 North Vancouver is an essential part of our team, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations and excellent customer service. This role involves greeting customers, handling prescriptions with care, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and compliant workspace.
Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, basic pharmacology knowledge, and excellent communication abilities. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care in a dynamic environment, requiring adaptability and a commitment to ongoing learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
· Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
· Providing guidance on over-the-counter medications, healthcare products, and general inquiries.
· Ensure a positive and welcoming environment for all pharmacy visitors.
Prescription Handling
· Support pharmacists by accurately assembling, labeling, and preparing medications for dispensing.
· Pay meticulous attention to details to ensure the right medication and dosage are provided, safeguarding patient health.
Inventory Management
· Monitor stock levels, identify reordering needs, and manage the receipt of new inventory.
· Organize medications and supplies efficiently to ensure easy access and optimal shelf life, reducing waste and shortages.
Transactions Handling
· Operate the cash register, process payments, and manage the return and exchange of goods.
· Handle insurance billing and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy in transactions and patient billing.
Compliance and Regulations
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy laws, health and safety guidelines, and industry best practices.
· Implement and adhere to procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and safeguard patient privacy.
· Partner with Pharmacy Team to adhere to standards set out by the College of Pharmacy.
Record Keeping
· Utilize pharmacy management systems to keep precise records of patient information, prescription details, and transactions.
· Ensure all documentation is handled in a confidential manner, in line with data protection laws.
Medication Storage
· Ensure medications are stored according to manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards, considering factors like temperature and humidity, to maintain their efficacy and extend shelf life.
Pharmacy Cleanliness
· Maintaining Regularly clean and sanitize work areas, shelves, and equipment to maintain a hygienic environment.
· Organize the pharmacy layout for a clutter-free space, facilitating a better workflow and customer experience.
Communication
· Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure seamless service and efficient workflow.
· Share relevant information promptly with team members to resolve issues and improve patient care.
Continuous Learning
· Engage in ongoing education and training opportunities to stay abreast of advancements in medications, technology, and healthcare practices. This commitment ensures the delivery of informed advice and services to customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a Pharmacy Assistant or related field is a plus.
· Previous experience in a pharmacy, or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills, attention to detail, organizational abilities, basic math, and computer proficiency.
· Kroll Dispensary Software is an asset.
· Understanding of basic pharmacology, healthcare regulations, and privacy laws is desirable.
· Empathy, adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
