Position: Procurement Specialist
Hours: 8:00 to 4:30, Monday to Friday
Company: UPS Canada – Burlington building
Job Summary
This position supports both UPS and UPS SCS companies in the Americas Region.
He/She conducts data collection, analysis/reporting, supplier qualification, and measurement efforts for a specific commodity or commodities. He/She assists with improvements to current processes and the implementation of new processes to maximize efficiencies. This position provides user support and maintenance to numerous databases used within Procurement Services. He/She also develops and maintains relationships with UPS customers and vendors.
He/She is required to guarantee product standards are met, best pricing is obtained, timelines are achieved (or exceeded), and to ensure high levels of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Helps develop category implementation plans to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Creates complex spreadsheets, documents, reports, and presentations.
- Supports the execution of contracts within the assigned commodity.
- Assists with Requests for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), financial and performance clauses, metrics, terms, and penalties to ensure the best bid among vendors.
- Assists in the development of fact-based negotiation strategies to obtain the best value.
- Maintains and contributes to weekly and monthly reporting.
- Acts as a buyer for special requests or approved projects, keeping customers updated on ETA/Tracking/Delivery.
- Supports team in identifying ways to reduce costs through competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Supports and enforces Procurement policies to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent – Preferred.
- Experience with vendor sourcing – Preferred.
- Experience with negotiations – Preferred.
- Experience with contract management – Preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Time management and prioritization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish required, Portuguese is an asset).
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as part of the Americas Region team
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Demonstrates strong technical background, computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.
