THIS IS A PERMANENT WEEKEND SHIFT POSITION 6:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY.
Purpose:
· Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned employees.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mentors, supervises, co-ordinates and provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned employees
- Directs and manages indirect staff as applicable
- Provides input on relevant issues to management staff to ensure that issues on "off shifts" are communicated and acted upon as required
- Analyze and manage performance measurements (production, scrap, downtime, rework, utilization, etc.) on a plant-wide basis
- Ensure all customer quality requirements are met and take appropriate actions in the event of an issue, including, but not limited to, tool repairs, rework, containment, management notification and escalation per company procedures
- Provide necessary guidance and training to employees in areas of quality, safety, production metrics, equipment and facilities
- Participate and lead in the execution of tasks and initiatives for annual Goals and Objectives, Lean Manufacturing and 5S
- Ensure appropriate daily, weekly and monthly communication with plant employees is completed
- Participate and ensure daily, weekly and monthly audits are completed
- Provide input to management relative to training that is required for employees to improve their skill set and assist in the scheduling and administering of training
- Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of employees engaged in the following duties: shipping and receiving; co-ordinating production work;
- Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to meet completion dates in accordance with schedules fixed by higher supervision and subject to higher approval
- Implements, promotes and enforces organizational policies and assures adherence to procedures in the areas of Health & Safety, Quality, Human Resources etc.
- Monitors work performance and provides counseling and administration of corrective action to employees to improve performance
- Arrange for maintenance and repair work and assist to resolve work-related issues
- May perform the same duties as direct reports
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Completion of secondary school is required
- General machining experience is an asset
- Technological diploma from a Community College with 3 to 5 years manufacturing experience preferred
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred

§ Computer skills including Microsoft Office
§ Ability to statistically analyze data
§ The ability to prioritize and plan responsibilities and execute to production schedules
§ Effective leadership and problem solving skills
§ Effective Interpersonal communication skills
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to motivate employees to achieve objectives
§ Knowledge of ISO 9000 and AS
§ Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
PERFORMANCE TARGETS
§ Manage all areas to the designated head count at required volumes
§ Ensure that employees receive appropriate training and demonstrate effective application
§ Maintain the 5S audit system
§ Maintain measures in accordance with IS 9000 and AS
§ Support and promote Lean Manufacturing
§ Reduce COPQ to meet annual targets
§ Achieve OEE targets as defined annually by management.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
§ Knowledgeable in their duties and responsibilities in accordance with Health and Safety legislation in Ontario
§ Lead and embody the Safe Start philosophy in our facility
§ Knowledgeable in the company's duties and responsibilities in accordance with both Federal and Provincial Environmental legislation
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
