Summary:

This position will be responsible for assisting the Senior Project Manager in the planning, execution and completion of Projects at Nunatsiavut Construction Inc. This position solves technical problems in research and development, construction, inspection, and maintenance by using science, engineering and mathematical principles.

Responsibilities:

• Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs for projects
• Maintain database with all cost incurred by projects; inform management if costs are expected to be higher then anticipated
• Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to project team
• Maintain contract execution and project completion log
• Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
• Track and manage contemplated change orders and scope changes
• Provide weekly updates on the project statuses
• Visit worksites to inspect and document progress as requested
• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
• Obtain quotes for equipment and material required for projects and prepares purchase orders for authorized signatures;
• Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
• Obtain permits and licenses if required for projects
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedule for equipment
• Assist Senior Management in the completion of project tenders
• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
• Promote and monitor occupational health and safety culture within the organization
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
• Communicate ideas for improving processes with a positive constructive attitude
• Travel to worksites
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum requirement of three (3) year diploma in Engineering Technology with 3 years of related experience. Combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
• Well-versed in construction methodologies and procedures
• Analytical mind and great organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles,
• Understanding of health and safety standards and the importance of implementation and compliance
• Class 5 drivers licence

Assets:

• Project Management Professionals Certification
• Experience working in remote locations
• Experience in compiling tenders and contracts
