The Opportunity:
SNDL is looking for a dynamic candidate who leads the responsibilities and relationships for Provincial Sales in Western Canada. The markets specific to this role would be BC, AB, SK and MB. This person would be considered the internal market expert for each province they are assigned. They will provide insight and guidance on portfolio management, own the relationship with each provincial board and overarching day-to-day business operations to ensure each market is performing to the highest degree possible. This includes managing innovation sell in, recommending pricing, communicating with the field sales team, and the analysis of competitive pressures unique to each market. This role is highly collaborative and cross-functionally touches almost every team within the organization, so it is necessary the individual is a team player with strong influencing skills who can build relationships across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward.

Scope of Role:
Accountable Commercial - Activities:
- Manage provincial board relationships and information sharing.
- Maintain positive relationship with provincial board buyers, offering insights and data to support our current and future portfolio strategies.
- Sell in innovation listings to provincial board buyers.
- Manage SKU portfolio and assess competitive data monthly (at least) in parallel to Regional Sales Managers – pricing, potency, sales – be prepared for the monthly reviews.
- Work with Regional Sales Managers on initiatives and focuses in retail segment to maintain listings.
- Manage exiting products from the portfolio – provide clear communication internally and externally.
- Manage price change communication internally and externally, includes submitting actual price change files, go-live timing and anything else relevant.
- Creates routine and ad-hoc reports and presentations needed for meetings with provincial board customers.
- Provide customer insights and customer intelligence to build an innovative and customer-centric partnership.
- Manage and share any QA and Regulatory issues from each provincial board.
- Prepare and present provincial performance reviews monthly.
- Data analysis on their respective markets and performance of the SNDL portfolio
- Understands and is responsible for delivering monthly and quarterly budget for respective provinces – works directly with the Provincial Operations team and Regional Sales Managers to close any gaps
- Takes initiative in process refinement and/or development in areas of opportunity to support needs of respective markets.
- Manage Master Data and Portfolio Changes
- Manages the innovation planning and communication to all internal cross functional teams in the execution of product launches, transitions, and discontinuations.
- Manages all master data inputs and product changes – attention to detail to ensure the right information is being shared for all cross functional teams.
- Supports Provincial Operations team in weekly replenishment with provincial boards
- Manages the overarching external relationship with provincial board customers and distributors to ensure proper information exchange, planning, and execution relative to replenishment.
- Supports the Provincial Operations team in PO coordination with planning and fulfillment team with timing and any constraints in market (ie. Long term OOS, sales team initiatives)
- Knows and understands weekly provincial board’s inventory replenishment and inventory levels to minimize stock outs and resulting lost sales
- Understands and supports Return to Vendor process for respective markets
- Supports Provincial Operations team to identify aged or excess inventory risks and collaborate with cross functional teams to develop sell through plans for mitigation (both internal inventory and in-market customer inventory)
Accountable Cross Functional Activities:
- Support in the Demand Planning Process for respective markets
- Manage the Risks & Opportunities – forecasting future innovation launch quantities and launch timing
- Manage the exiting product timing and ensure the timing is correct
- Support the Regional Sales Managers in any insights or information relevant for the monthly forecasts
- Understands and involved in the internal Innovation & New Product Development Planning Process
- Supports in planning the innovation submission and shipment timing based on specific provincial board requirements and dynamics
- Provides feedback internally on any relevant information that can support product enhancement to ensure SNDL can secure new listings, includes, but not limited to: product specs, pricing, competitive analysis.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Preferred Undergraduate Degree in Commerce, Marketing, or Finance
- 5-10 years’ experience in key account selling, Project Management, retail sales and/or highly regulated product operations.
- Advanced Customer Relationship Management and stakeholder engagement
- Cross functional experience preferred (ie. Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Manufacturing)
- Influencing and negotiation skills
- Business acumen
- Cannabis knowledge and experience in a manufacturing/CPG environment an asset
- Experience in financial analysis is an asset
- Experience in category management is an asset
- Med-Advanced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word), PowerBI
