Classification Summary - Union
The Glenmore Landfill serves as the solid waste disposal facility for residents within the Central Okanagan Regional District and offers a variety of disposal options on-site including recycling, organic materials, household and commercial waste.
In this role you will weigh vehicle loads, collect load fees, direct vehicles to appropriate areas for dumping and provide general information to the public. The successful applicants will be customer-focused, team-players with a passion for, and experience in providing excellent customer service. Computer literacy and cash-handling experience is a must along with the flexibility to work various shifts including weekends. A clear Criminal Record Check will be required.
Duties - Union
- Creates, inputs, updates, and maintains a variety of manual and electronic records including loads containing hazardous materials in accordance with Municipal and Provincial Government regulations.
- Operates computerized vehicle scale to determine weight of load, enters load information and vehicle identification into a computer; collects tipping fees based on established rate schedules.
- Monitors loads to identify content; radios attendants to verify content as needed; directs drivers to pre-determined landfill areas for tipping based on load content.
- Operates a computer to process charges assigned for each load; generates charge tickets for customers, City accounts receivable and scale-house records.
- Prepares daily deposits, cash summaries and balance sheets.
- Assists in the orientation and training co-workers.
- Receives and responds to enquiries and complaints from the public; provides general information regarding landfill regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Perform light custodial duties to clean and maintain the scale house.
- Provides relief coverage to the Operations Clerk.

$31.16 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
