JOB TITLE: Purchasing Assistant

REPORTS TO: Manager, Materials Management

As the Purchasing Assistant you will be responsible for timely placement of purchase orders, ensuring on time delivery to meet customer requirements. Assists with material supplies, logistic services and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations). Works with a team to build and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers and negotiates best possible costs while maintaining a high level of commitment to quality and delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for sourcing, researching, negotiating and ordering of supplies for various departments while optimizing material usage and best practices for process procedures.
• Produces Internal Quotes and Purchase Orders
• Provide an analysis of the MRP Report to determine orders of raw material, MRO Supplies, subcontractor services, shipping and plating supplies, miscellaneous items.
• Work with suppliers
• Maintains Raw Material and MRO.
• Maintain data for standard costs in ERP.
• Inventory maintenance
• Follow Quality and LEAN principles

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field: Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics or equivalent and/or 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Freight, packaging, logistics and customs experience would be an asset.
• Organizational, Communication and Teamwork skills are required
• Proficient computer skills in MS Office
