Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Quality Control Co-Op Student to join our team Sechelt, BC. As a Quality Control Co-Op Student you will positively impact our operation, while you develop your specific skill set. Our team is looking for a 4 or 8 month co-op student to join our team beginning May 2024.
What You Will Get to Do:
- Have an active role in site health and safety
- Become a technical process and analysis expert who can delivery quality work on a consistent basis
- Participate in a structured technical training program
- Sample and test raw materials and finished aggregate products according to ASTM and CSA standards
- Input process control for the sand production process based on sample test results
- Communicate test results to site management and the product distribution team
- Provide technical services for the production and maintenance teams
- Work in a CCIL certified aggregates laboratory
- Calibrate and maintain testing tools and equipment
- Participate in process improvements and troubleshooting of quality issues
Who we are looking for:
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related field
- Able to commit to a 4 or 8 month co-op opportunity beginning in May 2024
- Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
- The ability to produce high quality, detailed work based on established standards and procedures
- A steady and methodical worker that completes tasks within consistent timeframes
- Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision
- Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions
- In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule involving shift work and overtime when needed
- Class 5 drivers license
