Role Summary

Quality Engineering is required to work with all departments on the development of new products and maintain and improve current products in order to meet customer and IATF 16949 requirements.  This includes all quality related aspects of PPAP, prototype and ongoing product development.

 

**The successful candidate for this role will work at our new Magna EV battery enclosures facility located in Brampton, ON**

Key Responsibilities


•    Works with Deco personnel on Advanced Product Quality Planning, and with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing products to meet critical customer deadlines
•    Maintain an open issues matrix for all assigned parts and programs,
•    Coordinates customer quality events at the division and ensures professional long term relationships are met and maintained
•    Coordinates, prepares and implements new / current program  fixtures / gauges builds including cost, design, timing and quality to meet customer and division standards 
•    Create / update fixture instructions
•    Actively participates in the PFMEA’s development
•    Prepares and updates the Control Plan documentation and Control Cards based on customer and internal requirements 
•    Plans and prepares PPAP submissions on new / modified products to meet customer deadlines and customer specific requirements
•    Evaluates quality issues facilitating and reporting results of 8D meetings 
•    Closes Quality Alerts
•    Liaises between customers, division reps in the customer plants, division quality team members, engineering team members and production team members
•    Organize and follow-up with third party sorting at division and customer plants, if required 
•    Participate in training of production, quality team members when necessary
•    Prepares, update, daily review DMR and initiate actions based on findings
•    Review dimensional reports, performs statistical studies, reports data and facilitates problem solving activities based on dimensional findings
•    Creates and updates Procedures, SWI and  Visual Aids 
•    Follow-up daily on customer web sites. Review quality performance and customer bulletins so they can be communicated to the team for the necessary actions to ensure compliance. Update customer websites as required. 
•    Conduct audits, LPA 
•    Assist in disposition of suspect material
•    Maintains a high level of confidentiality while managing customer sensitive documents and data that drives process and product changes
•    Responsible and assists in IATF 16949/MAFACT implementation and compliance
•    Participates in plant wide continuous improvement projects
•    Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (IATF 16949/MAFACT, ISO 14001 etc)
•    Understands, promotes and lives by Magna philosophies and Employee Charter
•    Adheres to Deco’s core values: integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty 
•    Perform other duties as required
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Post-secondary graduate with a technical diploma or a certificate in Quality Engineering (CQE)
•    Minimum of 5 years  automotive experience as a Quality Engineer 
•    Prior experience with ISO/IATF16949 processes
•    Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process submissions, Geometric Dimensions & Tolerancing, Flow Diagrams, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Statistics, and fixture development based on part GD&T
•    Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques 
•    Demonstrated ability to use basic statistical tools 
•    Demonstrated ability to use basic measurement tools (height gauge, Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, etc)
•    Must successfully comply with recognized corrected levels of vision as per customer requirements
•    Ability to communicate to all levels of plant personnel with ease
•    Ability to coordinate and facilitate cross-functional team meetings
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Ability to work to meet deadlines and multiple demands
•    Ability to uphold confidentiality
•    Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment
•    Must have excellent communication skills.
