JOB DESCRIPTION

- Provide one-on-one resident engagement in various activities, including but not exclusive to walking, having a conversation, reading to them, playing a game, watching television, arts/crafts/coloring, comforting them, listening to the resident and making them feel heard, supported and focusing on their personhood
- Communicate resident conditions to nurses and fellow PSWs.
- Offer hands-on engagement and comfort to residents, including holding hands, guiding, and walking.
- Help residents with approved exercises and activities
- Implementing Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) techniques
- Notify staff of medical emergencies and complete necessary documentation including updating DOS binders on a half hour basis
- Maintain resident comfort by supplying blankets or other items as directed
- Assist with high-touch cleaning during outbreaks and PPE organization
- Manage garbage disposal and handle laundry and supply replenishment as needed
- Provide support to home staff as assigned and requested
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
License:Security Guard License is required
Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check.
Immunizations Up-to-date immunizations including min 3 doses for COVID-19
Compassion and Empathy: A genuine desire to help and care for elderly residents, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ethical Behavior: Adherence to professional and ethical standards in caregiving, including respecting residents' rights
and privacy.
Documentation Skills: The ability to accurately document care activities.
Teamwork: Collaboration skills to work effectively with nurses, PSWs, and other healthcare professionals.
Adaptability: The capacity to adapt to changing situations and schedules in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Cultural Sensitivity: The ability to provide culturally sensitive care to residents from diverse backgrounds.
Resident-Centered Care: A focus on providing person-centered care, which involves tailoring care to meet each resident's unique needs and preferences.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
