Basic Function and Scope:
As an active member of the multidisciplinary team, the Resident Support Services Manager is Responsible for multi site planning, organization and implementation of innovative programs based on established standards, policies and procedures, which will advance or maintain the lifestyle of residents and improve the overall delivery of health care. This requires that considerable attention be given to resident and family needs with time given to responding to their questions and concerns.
The Resident Support Services Manager is responsible for Recreation, Volunteers, student placements and Pastoral Care.
Responsibilities
Key Functions Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- The Resident Support Services Manager ensures that resident-centred recreational services are available to meet the needs and preferences of residents;
- Promotes a holistic perspective in meeting the physical, emotional; cognitive; spiritual and social needs of the residents;
- Provides quality recreational programming;
- Provides recreational services to the residents with respect to their physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual needs;
- Provides care and services to the residents with respect to their senses and communication;
- Provides for and implements preventive and safety measures;
- Trains new volunteers to their responsibilities;
- Maintains plants in the home – Horticultural therapy programs;
- Implements a pet therapy program;
- Actively participates in admission and annual multidisciplinary conferences when necessary;
- Participates and contributes to the leadership meetings;
- Participates in Team Meetings for Accreditation Committees;
- Conducts monthly meeting with tenants (Supportive Living);
- Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively, manage a full workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment with frequent interruptions;
- Demonstrated trouble shooting skills and ability to problem solve issues that may arise in carrying out the duties of this position;
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to health and safety policies, procedures and applicable legislation;
- Use a variety of forums to communicate effectively with staff, other departments and managers, volunteers, students, external agencies, residents and families;
- Demonstrated professional work ethic and behaviours in interaction with internal and external contacts;
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respect and effective communication;
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with minimal supervision with proven reliability and trustworthiness;
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products, and other software applications;
- Bilingual in French and English language, preferred
Qualifications:
Education:
- Community College recreation therapy diploma;
- Degree in a related filed preferred (i.e. therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, psychology, social work, physiotherapy)
Experience:
- Previous experience working with seniors, particular in a long term care setting (3-5 years).
Physical Requirements:
The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.

Salary: $64,038.00-$75,270.00 per year
