Job Profile
The Restaurant Server is the primary point of contact for guest interactions in the restaurant. The server is responsible for selling and serving food and beverages using their knowledge, hospitality and service skills. This position takes orders, serves food and drinks, and removes dinnerware from the table in a timely manner. The server makes the customer feel welcomed and comfortable. Dependent on the needs of the business, Servers will service the restaurant, In-room dining and pool.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Smiles, greet guest, offer beverages and take food orders both accurately and efficiently
- Anticipates any requests before they are made, including coffee, water, drink refills, as well as taking any required condiments to the table prior to taking their food out
- Follows company policies & procedures as outlined in the Employee handbook, and can effectively communicate them to other team members
- Conducts a quality check after food has been tasted to ensure guest satisfaction within either 2 minutes or 2 bites
- Delivers the bill in a timely manner and close in the POS system as soon as guest leaves when possible, especially if it is a room charge in case they are about to check out.
- Cleans and reset tables to Delta standards
- Performs all required opening and closing duties
- Pours and serve wine, beer and limited cocktails
- Responsible for the signing out and safe return of the service keys, deposit cash and appropriate paperwork in the safe
- Understands and works in accordance with health and safety mandates
- Responsible for the daily execution of guest key service standards as outlined by the hotel including leading guests rather than pointing, using eye contact, smiling and using the guest’s name
Pool
- Works in the outdoor weather environment for shifts of up to eight hours.
- Performs and exceeds the pool terrace Delta standards
- Pours drinks, deliver food & maintain guest areas on the pool deck
- Carries food by hand from main level to second floor multiple times per hour
- Sets a fun and entertaining environment to your designated area
- Takes pride in entire outlet ensuring all necessary items are stocked, i.e. pool towels, etc.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs
Qualifications
- Must have Serving it Right and Food Safe certification
- 2-3 years serving experience required
- Excellent Command of the English language – written and verbal. Other languages an asset
- Upbeat and outgoing personality with a high level of self-confidence
- Portray a professional image
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Possess a positive attitude and works well with other team members
- Excellent guest service skills, desire to meet and exceed guest expectations
- Ability to manage a varying table section, while bussing and running food
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Extensive cash handling experience
- Point of sale experience
- Experience in sales or an equivalent position is a must
- Must be physically fit; lifting and moving quickly is a mandatory part of this position
- Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

- Constant ascending or descending flights of stairs
