Ljunghall Canada produces high pressure aluminum die cast components to support the transportation sector. Our Canadian plant is currently looking for a Robotics & Controls Process Technician to join our Engineering team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Robotics & Controls Process Technician is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of equipment and hardware as well as controls and programming of PLCs and robots.
Primary Responsibilities
Systems Setup & Maintenance:
- Create and maintain an organized back-up system to house all PLC and robot programs
- Actively maintain a program revision log for all PLC and robot programs
- Assist in the development of controls and robotics programming standards
Equipment & Hardware Maintenance:
- Ensure PLC and robotics hardware is maintained. Support repairs, communicate on work status and provide reports.
- Follow OEM guidelines and provide recommendations for preventative maintenance
- Advise on critical components and spare parts
Controls & Programming:
- Create PLC and robot programs for new jobs or equipment
- Assist with concepts or designs of new automation
Support of production and maintenance personnel as required
Your Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in automation or in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with robotic vision systems
- Proficient using Siemens S7
- Proficient with ABB IRC5 Controllers & Robotics
- Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code and CSA
- Ability to update and interpret electrical drawings
- Understanding of schematics and ladder logic
- Knowledge of automation and integration of equipment
Desired Skills
- Experience in training personnel
- Experience developing training aids, working instructions and standard operating procedures
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
