The Position
We’re on the hunt for a Safety & Mission AssuranceEngineer/MTS to support commercial robotics programs.
S&MA is an independent engineering reporting organization within MDA. S&MA is involved in all aspects of the program, including support to proposals, customer and subcontractor contract negotiations, and through all phases of design, development, procurement, assembly, integration, test, qualification, delivery and operational support.
This job requires interaction with internal customers (including MDA program managers, engineering and manufacturing team), external customers (including their program and S&MA personnel) and various subcontractors and major suppliers.
The successful candidate will progress towards a Lead role, which will include supervising all S&MA activities and resources on the program with respect to completion of required activities within program budget, schedule and quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate S&MA activities and resources to ensure completion of required activities within program budget, schedule and quality requirements.
- Early identification of technical risk and mitigation planning.
- Early identification of quality requirements and implementation planning.
- Early identification of safety risks, mitigation planning and driving requirements to include safety controls.
- Reviewing designs (drawings, specifications, test procedures etc.)
- Continuous monitoring and support during MAI&T to ensure products meet MDA and Customer technical and quality requirements.
- Supporting failure investigations and hardware and software non-conformances.
- Serve as customer point of contact for S&MA issues
- Performing analyses as required (e.g. hazard analysis, reliability analysis, FMEA).
- Finding process improvements for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics etc.)
- Minimum of 4 years ’ experience in a technical or Mission Assurance role.
- Knowledge of product/quality assurance principles and practices related to aerospace / space product development.
- Knowledge of safety/hazard analysis and reliability fundamentals.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with effective time management.
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
