Job description

School District No. 51 (Boundary) is seeking an outstanding educational leader for the position of Principal at Grand Forks Secondary School (GFSS) and Walker Development Centre (WDC) in Grand Forks, British Columbia effective August 1, 2024. The school lies on the unceded traditional territory of the Interior Salish people. Enrolling over 400 students in Grades 8 to 12, GFSS and WDC serve the communities of Grand Forks and Christina Lake.Nestled between the Okanagan and the West Kootenays, SD 51 is a small, rural district that operates on a 4-day school week with students in session Monday to Thursday. Grand Forks is situated on the confluence of the Kettle and Granby rivers and is approximately 2.5 hours from Nelson, Kelowna and Spokane. The Boundary is a land of fertile fields, lush valleys, lakes, rivers, and mountains where you can find unlimited adventure through four distinct seasons.As a member of the District Leadership Team, the candidate should possess the following qualifications, experiences, and attributes: BC Professional Teaching Certificate Master’s degree or currently enrolled in a master’s program in an applicable educational field Minimum of five years exemplary teaching/leadership experience at the secondary level in addition to (if possible) with learners with unique needs (e.g., alternate education, special education learners, etc.,) Proven record of exemplary relationships with students, staff, district-level administration, and parents Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, truth and reconciliation.
