About Crossroads Gas
We are member owned cooperative that provides natural gas to homes, farms and businesses in the rural communities around Central Alberta. We service over 3000 customers and are run by an elected Board of Directors from the community we serve. Crossroads celebrated it's 50 year anniversary in 2023. We are part of the largest rural natural gas distribution system in the world made up of 82 gas co-ops providing service throughout the province. Our operations centre is located 15 minutes south of Red Deer.
Position Summary
We are currently recruiting for labourers from May to August. Employees will be cross trained in a variety of field tasks to aid with the busy season.
Responsibilities
- Performing landscaping maintenance around purchase points, block valves and construction bell holes such as weed whipping, spraying weeds, hand shoveling dirt and installing fencing.
- Lawn maintenance around the main building which includes mowing, trimming, and debris removal.
- Installing, replacing, and painting natural gas pipeline warning signs and posts.
- Cleaning and pressure washing equipment, trucks, and trailers.
- Shop work (cleaning and organizing as required).
- Investigating gas line leaks, GPS surveying underground lines, and inspecting above ground risers for risk.
- Other various related activities as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid class 5 drivers license and ability to provide a driver's abstract.
- Working knowledge of the use of common hand tools, power tools and ride-on mowing equipment relative to landscape maintenance.
- Must enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather.
- There will be some interactions with customers as well as domestic animals and livestock.
- Ability to take direction, learn and work independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated and energetic team player with an attention to safety and a great work ethic.
- Previous landscaping and maintenance experience would be an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
