A unique experience for outdoor enthusiasts to create and maintain recreation sites and trails.
The Recreation Sites and Trails Branch (RSTBC) is a provincial program delivered through a headquarters office in Victoria, four regions, and 20 districts across the province. The purpose of the branch is to plan, develop, maintain, and market a significant, diverse, and valuable network of 1,700+ recreation sites and 500+ recreation trails to provide safe, quality recreational opportunities for the public, including residents and visitors to British Columbia. In addition, the branch is responsible for managing over 600 km of rail trails. In collaboration with other agencies and a wide variety of stakeholders, the branch manages public recreation use on Crown lands outside recreation sites and trails; and protects present and future recreation resources on Crown lands outside of provincial parks and settled areas, using service contracts and partnership agreements.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) supports the Government of British Columbia in its focus on building a true and lasting vision of reconciliation. The Ministry is committed to building and maintaining partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and the Recreation Sites and Trails Branch reflects this commitment in its collaboration with First Nations.
