The accounting team is looking to add a Senior Accountant to join BBTV. You will have a strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards as well as fundamental understanding of tax and other reporting standards. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller. Operational excellence, superb communication skills, collegiality, proactive orientation, and meticulous attention to detail are key requirements for this position. Main Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of all full-cycle accounting operations and ensure completeness, accuracy, integrity and timeliness of records related to daily transactions and closing operations in full compliance with IFRS, local accounting rules, tax regulations and internal reporting manuals
Prepare daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
Perform daily routines and month end, quarter end and year end procedures
Own monthly revenues and cost of sales reporting and reconciliations, including detailed, high volume month-end reports for clients
Record and maintain fixed and intangible asset purchases and applicable depreciation and amortization schedules
Assist in the preparation intercompany account reconciliations
Assist in the the variance analysis process
Assist in meeting tax compliance including annual corporate tax filings, monthly GST and PST tax filings
Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
Coordinate and collaborate with the other functions and business partners of BBTV, the external auditors and advisers and tax authorities
Work with the Accounting team to establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, principles and internal controls
Assist the Controller in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and other departments
Prepare timely analysis for ad hoc requests and projects as directed by general management
Qualifications
A bachelors' degree in commerce or related degree in accounting, plus a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) will be preferred
4+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in reporting under IFRS required
Big Four or National Firm accounting experience is preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Office
Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365 experience will be an preferred
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Strong organizational and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid, high-growth, and collaborative environment
Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
Good knowledge of Canada, USA, and India taxation rules and regulations is an asset
Strong initiative and demonstrated track record as an outstanding problem-solver and strategic thinker
Ability to work both independently and on a team with strong interpersonal and people leadership abilities
