Senior Accountant

Note: Starting salaryposted is flexible depending upon skills and experience. $60,000 is the minimumstarting salary for this role!

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Controller, the Senior Accountant is an integral member of the finance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee administrative tasks, including but not limited to wood and additive reconciliations.
• Month-end standard journal entries, accruals, and maintenance of Key Statistical information for the site.
• Monthly reconciliation of General Ledger accounts.
• Monthly tax reconciliation and remittances.
• Mill financial statement review and analysis of actual variances against standards.
• Communicate monthly results to mill management team.
• Regular review of mill Vendor Invoice Management queue and GRIR (Goods Received/Invoice Received) report to ensure timely vendor payment and recording of expense.
• Develop reporting tools to support value enhancement.
• Assist Operations Controller with preparation of monthly and quarterly rolling forecasts.
• Ability to work in team-based, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Assist Operations Controller with financial analysis and decision support on capital projects and operating postures.
• Ensure mill fixed asset ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
• Provide timely and accurate financial information to the management team to facilitate optimal decision making.
• Ad hoc reporting as required by mill personnel.
• Regular reviews of financial information with key stakeholders.
• Provide support to internal and external audit process as required.
• Special Projects as assigned by Mill Management, Operations Controller and the Director of Finance.
• Develop and maintain individual and company goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A recognized Professional Accounting Designation is preferred.
• Prior experience in Finance/Accounting for a manufacturing company is preferred.
• Prior experience with product costing in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Prior experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand financial statements.
• Strong analytical skills, including ability to solve for algebraic variables.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to take a general question, sort through detailed data, and deliver meaningful, concise, verbal or written report that drives positive business decision making.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas are beneficial.
• Ability to speak in front of mill team, including preparing presentation for team meetings.
• Must have ability to understand difference between total cost and cost per unit and their respective values in spotting trends.
• Ability to travel (5%) as required.
