Job Description:
The Senior Accountant works closely with the financial controller along with the rest of the finance team. The professional is responsible for month-end and year-end closing procedures with an emphasis on monthly financial reporting, inter-company reconciliations, and preparation and filing of GST and PST returns. Public company experience may be an asset.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
· Prepare the monthly and annual financial statement packages of the entities within The Quorum Group along with related support & backup
· Lead the coordination of annual financial statement sign-off with external accountants and internal management
· Implement and maintain financial reporting procedures to comply with internal and external reporting deadlines and requirements
· Perform continuous assessment of the month-end close process to reduce the timing required to close the financial period
· Emphasis on financial reporting along with inter-company reconciliations, preparation and filing of GST and PST returns
· Daily cash management
· Participate in other projects as required
Required Qualification:
· CPA Certification
· Experience within the construction/real estate development industry is preferred
Required Skills:
· Thorough knowledge of APSE and IFRS
· Solid communication, technology, organizational and analytical skills
· Knowledge of federal and provincial taxes
· Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
