Reporting to the Senior Director, Team Lead, Data Management, you’ll have the opportunity to put your knowledge and your experience to work in the field of institutional investment by advancing and developing our Data Management practices. You will be responsible for creating and delivering data documentation, stakeholder training, continuous improvement and automation to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data. You will actively participate in supporting front-line investment professionals and other users of our data and will be asked to collaborate on inter-team projects related to data as well as to the team’s technical development.
Main responsibilities:
Implement governance strategies via data quality controls in collaboration with the investment governance lead.
Coordinate implementation and monitoring of the data health check for data critical to the investment process
Identify, document and promote continuous improvement opportunities related to data ingestion and processing processes; participate in development, testing and production in collaboration with the IT department and suppliers; and train stakeholders
Provide internal support to clients with regard to data requests, problems and questions and act as liaison between the IT and investment teams
Create data documentation, standards and procedures aligned with the governance strategies and the needs of stakeholders.
Provide training to stakeholders on Data Management and governance policies, standards and procedures
Desired profile:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information technology or a related field
5+ years of experience in Data Management, data governance in the investment field
Good knowledge of financial markets and the various types of assets, including alternative investments (equities, bonds, derivatives, private placements, etc.)
Experience with programming languages (Python, R, SQL, VBA, etc.), as well as with visualization tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Tableau or similar tools
Knowledge of Eagle PACE and market data providers such as Bloomberg, Morningstar (asset)
Experience in supporting investment professionals and delivering cross-functional projects
Knowledge of current data quality management practices in the industry.
Experience in data automation, continuous improvement initiatives and change management
Experience in creating data documentation, standards and procedures and in training stakeholders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with other teams and external suppliers
Excellent command of French and English (oral and written) for frequent interaction with internal French- and English-speaking colleagues and partners across North America
