About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Finance is separated into five work groups (Finance Corporate, Finance Wholesale, Regulatory and Compliance, Finance Retail, and Shared Services) and provides financial services to all LDB departments. The Finance division provides financial reporting, advisory services, budgeting, capital asset reporting, and financial transactional processing (banking, accounting payable, accounts receivable). Finance is responsible for the LDB's enterprise risk management program and oversees regulatory compliance for BC liquor manufacturers/warehouses.

About this role:

The Senior Corporate Accountant provides advisory services related to the preparation and analysis of financial records, creation of financial statements and ensuring regulation compliance in accounting practices. The Senior Corporate Accountant makes recommendations on the financial implications of new initiatives.

A criminal record check is required.

The temporary assignment may be extended up to a maximum of 2 years.

Successful candidates may be required to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines, as required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

• Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) and a membership in good standing.

Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.

• Minimum 2 years of recent, related experience* in retail or wholesale operations environment.

OR

• Minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years and include the following:

• Performing financial accounting, including general ledger services; and providing financial advice and stewardship.
