Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Advisor, Energy on a temporary, 18-month term basis.

This position is a remote opportunity and can be based in and around the areas of Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary, or Edmonton. Approximately 30-40% travel time will be required to visit sites across Western Canada. There is some flexibility with how this travel is structured and it can often be planned far in advance.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide expertise and guidance to operations for corporate owned facilities such as gas bars, bulk plants, cardlocks, etc., on safety programs, emergency response, regulatory compliance, site audits, site inspections, training and expanding communication between stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Energy Managers/Supervisors through the implementation and continued used of current and new EHS procedures, processes, and tools, and provide strategic ideas and initiatives for conformance to an ever-changing industry.
  • Support field investigations with incidents of medium-high risk or consequences where communications and/or corrective actions are required and respond to situational matters (e.g., injury, equipment damage, near miss, etc.) of safety and compliance as they may occur.
  • Identify and complete training needs assessments for the corporate owned facilities including coordinating training with stakeholders, design and facilitate “train the trainer” courses, and collaborate in the development of facility-specific training for employees.
  • Collaborate with other departments on projects as determined by Senior Leaders.

You will work on a team with 3 other advisors and will collaborate cross-functionally, providing exceptional guidance and support to those involved in the operations of FCL’s corporate owned facilities and sites to foster a culture of safety, compliance, and collaboration.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) & Sustainability and:

  • Have 8+ years of experience in health and safety positions.
  • Have a two-year diploma or are working towards an H&S Designation or Certificate.
  • Experienced with incident investigation methods and H&S auditing practices.
  • Well-versed in provincial and federal OH&S legislation, standards, and practices.
  • Experience in the Energy sector would be considered an asset. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Have experience with Fast Field, ISNetworld, and other compliance related technology, would be considered to be an asset.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 19011 would be considered an asset.
