The Opportunity
This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics and toxicology. In this role you will provide support to operations team on financial planning and budgeting and work within the Finance team to perform various internal control, recording and reporting tasks.
What You’ll Do
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Meet all financial reporting requirements within agreed upon timelines.
- Financial Planning: Develop financial plans/forecasts that are accurate, well written and professionally presented for senior management review, and properly supported and gaited.
- Internal Controls: Assure compliance with Abbott CFM’s and GAAP and the integrity of our financial planning, reporting and analysis and related processes. Perform financial review and approvals for purchase requisitions related to capital and various expenditures.
- Provide timely, accurate and meaningful, value-added analysis to support process improvements and decision-making. Participate in special projects as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate University Degree, (3-year program), or equivalent experience: Accounting or related discipline preferred.
- Typically requires 6 + years of related experience to develop the competence required to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position.
Related experience may include some/all of the following:
- Reporting and variance analysis.
- Internal controls.
- Cost/manufacturing accounting.
- General accounting including balance sheet reconciliation.
- Interaction with other business functions
- Ability to operate independently with broad scope of responsibility under minimal supervision and under challenging time constraints.
- Ability to communicate, clearly, accurately and concisely with all levels of the organization.
- Ability or aptitude to apply in-depth knowledge of financial processes, accounting methodologies, and division specific operations to lead complex planning processes and to support related systems and functions.
- Ability to facilitate interpretation and understanding of data, identify risks and develop recommendations and implement solutions.
- Ability to form and develop interpersonal professional relationships, display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
