What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Financial Control, Personal & Commercial Banking Finance will act as the Subject Matter Expert and the “Go to” person for P&CB Balance Sheet reporting and analytics, responsible to ensure the Balance Sheet is complete and accurate. They will lead cross team effort on managing various financial reporting and analytics deliverables; continuously assess, cultivate and implement process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency; and actively monitor the reporting controls & governance framework to ensure robust controls for P&CB external reporting, disclosures and capital reporting
What you will do?
Balance Sheet, Capital Reporting & Analysis
Responsible for Canadian Banking balance sheet review and variance analysis to ensure completeness, accuracy, and support of external and management reporting.
P&CB GAA/ RWA - provide timely and accurate monthly reporting by business line, investigate and analyze significant variances and fluctuations. .
External Reporting & Disclosures
Manage Canadian Banking external reporting and disclosures requirements and deliverables – act as primary contact for Head Office/ Financial Regulatory Reporting to ensure all Canadian Banking financial reporting requirements are met. Review monthly/ quarterly disclosures prepared by team and Product Control..
Lead CB new disclosure requirements project, establish reporting and analytical process with robust controls implemented
Control & Governance
Act as FC point of contact, coordinate with Internal and external auditors, Head Office on Canadian Banking SOX control related matters, including annual DE and OE testing.
Accounting advisory – perform issue analysis by applying relevant accounting standards in accordance with IFRS.
Lead monthly CB SOD consolidated review and capitalization review and analysis.
General Ledger (G/L) Integrity – review of G/L to ensure balances are booked consistently across geographies, transactions are correctly classified on the balance sheet, and asset and liability values are reported on proper section of the balance sheet. Ensure adherence to IFRS, including implementation of new accounting standards as required.
Process Improvement
Process Improvement & Automation – constantly look for opportunities for process improvement and automation to allow for greater efficiency and accuracy of reporting and analytics
Special projects as assigned by senior management
What you need to succeed?
Must Have
Strong finance/accounting background – CPA, CA, CGA, CMA or equivalent
Extensive financial/management reporting experience in a financial institution
Strong knowledge of IFRS
Excellent organization, analytical and communication skills
Experience with RBC’s Financial/ management reporting systems
Attention to detail and ability to work independently and manage competing priorities simultaneously
