Senior Manager, Financial Reporting

About the Role

The Financial Reporting team is responsible for Magna’s global internal and external financial close process, compliance reporting and related special projects. This includes the quarterly preparation of Magna’s complex public company financial statements, management’s discussion & analysis, related regulatory filings and key monthly internal reporting to executive management. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, and supported by a team of CPA’s and aspiring CPA’s, the Senior Manager is a key role within the Financial Reporting team.

Your Responsibilities

• Directly and indirectly manage/review work of junior Financial Reporting team members, including assigning monthly and quarterly tasks
• Assist in the monthly and quarterly financial close process including: oversight of monthly Financial Reporting results discussions with reporting units, issue identification and problem resolution, review/prepare consolidation reporting schedules, analysis of key financial statement accounts, provide information analysis and certain key monthly internal reporting documents to executive
• Assist in the preparation of complex public company quarterly and annual financial statements, management’s discussion & analysis and review of supporting schedules; Assist in the preparation of Audit Committee and Board of Directors quarterly finance presentations and review supporting schedules
• Liaise with the legal department to ensure quarterly and annual filing requirements are met, such as Edgar, Sedar and XBRL filings; Liaise and provide all necessary support to external/internal auditors
• Document and/or review accounting guidance for tax driven reorganizations and liaise with impacted reporting units to ensure the accounting guidance is appropriately applied
• Support the Director, Financial Reporting with ad-hoc requests, process improvement initiatives and special projects

• Must be a team player, highly motivated, experienced in working with a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and integrity in all aspects of the job

Your preferred qualifications

• University degree
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

• 8+ years post designation work experience

• Financial reporting experience at a large public company or public accounting firm

• Proven ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members and different departments to accomplish a set goal

• Advanced experience in consolidation & Financial Reporting applications Onestream and/or Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is an asset
