Job Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Insurance Canada Management Reporting will primarily be responsible for the integrity of the business unit’s internal financial reporting. Reporting to the Director, Insurance Canada Finance and working closely with the Insurance Canada Management (“ICM”) team, the role will maintain, manage, and help coordinate a monthly reporting process which provides ICM with an understanding of the financial results covering the usual variance analysis (i.e., Actual to Plan, Actual to Prior Period, Actual to Prior Year, etc.). As well, the role will manage and help coordinate all internal financial reporting on behalf of Insurance Canada to CB Finance.  Finally, the role will be key in managing and helping to coordinate the Planning and Forecasting process by addressing the needs of all stakeholders including ICM, CB Finance, and Global Insurance.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Financial Reporting

-Maintain, and have ownership over the management reporting process for the Bank’s Canadian insurance operations. This includes ensuring the integrity and timely dissemination of all internal financial reporting for Insurance Canada to meet all CB Finance requirements. The role will be a key partner for the ICM team in understanding the financial health of and in running the business.
-Working closely with CB Finance, understand, stay abreast, manage, and help coordinate with ICM in delivering monthly / quarterly / ad-hoc reporting requests for CB Finance.  Examples include identifying, understanding, and documenting variances such as Actual to Plan, Actual to Prior Period, Actual to Prior Year, Actual to Forecast, etc.
-Manage, help coordinate, and own a rolling 3-month and 6-quarter NIAT forecast of the financial results for Insurance Canada including obtaining updated NIR projections from Actuarial Services, obtaining concurrence and sign-off from ICM, and reacting to any questions received.
-Manage, help coordinate, and own the Planning & Forecasting process working with ICM, Actuarial Services & Data Analytics. This includes drafting & maintaining presentation decks to help explain these results.
-Manage and help coordinate any financial KPI reporting for .
-Develop and manage appropriate financial reporting processes which strengthen timely and accurate results.
-Actively look for opportunities to improve processes and tools used to support management reporting and analysis of business line results.
 
Finance Advice & Counsel

-Provide ongoing support and financial advice/counsel for development activities (i.e., products, business lines, and distribution channels).
-Be an active and supporting partner in the running of the business.
-Provide a review and financial assessment of business case submissions.
-Work closely with ICM to help identify appropriate financial and non-financial KPI’s against which the health of the business is measured and monitored.
 
 Leadership

-Provide strong leadership to motivate both individual and team performance to achieve high professional standards.
-Recruit, develop, retain and advance high quality talent. Actively contribute to an effective succession plan for Insurance Canada Finance.
-Demonstrate leadership & contribute in a positive manner in implementing the Insurance Canada business strategy.
-Serve as Finance’s representative on various Insurance Canada project implementation teams; especially those initiated by CB Finance.

-Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make prompt, well-reasoned decisions in a rapidly changing, complex business environment and under time pressure. This includes the ability to work quickly and accurately for sustained periods of time juggling multiple priorities.
-Demonstrated experience in managing people and processes with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with those outside of Global Insurance Finance (i.e., build good relationships with key internal stakeholders).
-The individual is expected to coach members of the insurance finance team such that eventually, they become self-sufficient in providing certain finance deliverables.
-Excellent analytical/database skills, excellent written/communication skills, advanced Excel skills, and good knowledge of PowerPoint.
-Professional accounting designation is required, preferably a CPA
-8 – 10 years progressive experience in the field of reporting for a financial institution, preferably within the life insurance industry.
