Job description

The Senior Manager Operational Excellence role will lead site wide Operational Excellence strategy for Juice and dairy manufacturing units for our Peterborough plant in Ontario Canada. The incumbent will lead and mentor the entire operations team (including maintenance, quality & warehouse) to drive operational performance by establishing and executing continuous improvement model to deliver business objectives. This role works hand in hand with all departments to support, coach, mentor and lead operational improvement strategy to drive change and deliver business objectives, productivity initiatives and routines to drive excellence. This is an onsite role.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, align and execute multi-year Operational Excellence strategy for the site
  • Train, coach and mentor employees, front line leaders and leadership team across the board to lay foundations for continuous improvement to drive excellence
  • Establish, roll out and drive Operational Excellence routines to meet business objectives
  • Serve as strategic and tactical leader/partner to implement and sustain site operating model to ensure standard manufacturing routines are suitability in practice
  • Develop overall supply chain performance indicators and process effectiveness by monitoring and supporting key metrics and KPIs for overall site in alignment with corporate guidelines
  • Develop & execute robust KPI owners coaching program to drive completion of gap analyses, identification and implementation of corrective actions, and verifications to ensure that gaps are closed
  • Develop & execute coaching program to build Operational Excellence culture, roll out tools and methods to use, across the site to drive value and sustain those initiatives
  • Implement continuous improvement mythologies, tools, forms and roll out site wide training to drive Continuous Improvement culture
  • Work around flexible schedule to gain hands on experience on key improvement areas and drive change
  • Lead supply chain/manufacturing effectiveness programs to ensure sustainable & efficient operations
  • Identifies manufacturing process requirements, improvement opportunities and best practices for site, ensuring alignment with site operating model and corporate guidelines and drive those projects/activities
  • Conducts workshops, focused improvement sessions with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize projects, define project requirements, scope, resources, team members, tasks, and project owners
  • Lead OE council meetings to review project progress, drive completion and issue regular reports to effectively communicate progress, roadblocks, achievements, and follow-ups
  • Develop effective collaboration with site management, outside network, cross functional teams and project/process owners to implement new processes or guidelines, determine improvements, identify and track savings, develop reports, and receive approval when/as required
  • Accountable for effectively communicating and delivering site’s Productivity Initiatives targets
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and owner managing business process change for the site to ensure changes are reviewed holistically and put a process to measure effectiveness
  • Partner with functional leaders in the ISO, GMP, FSSC, AIB, KORE and other internal audits and drive ownership of actions to drive improvements for development of procedures and corrective actions
  • Travel to other sites in the Coca Cola system as needed, within and outside Canada
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or assigned

  • Must have the ability and drive to trouble shoot problems with team/individually and be persistent until a solution is found to ensure process in place to continuously excel
  • Must work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures including use of safety equipment
  • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear
  • Ability to work off shifts as needed
  • Capable of influencing and develop relationship with operational leaders to drive change effectively and be change agent to drive site performance

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Operational excellence, continuous improvement experience in manufacturing environment desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Preferred; Engineering, Manufacturing, Food Science, Dairy Science, or Science)
  • Ability to become subject matter expert and site’s go to person for continuous improvement needs
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies
  • Analytical, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills to assess needs, understanding issues, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Project management experience to drive projects, focused improvements and define future state
  • Possess good understanding of overall manufacturing operations flow and variables
  • Experience working under manufacturing operating models based on KPIs, Continuous Improvement tools, Quality Tools and Gap Closure Action Plans
  • Leadership experience within complex manufacturing facilities
  • Ability to implement fundamental TQM, TPM and other Lean Manufacturing principals across the operations
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and success working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operations desired
