Description
Reporting to the Director of Process and Performance, the Sr Manager Terminal Standards and Methodology will be responsible for providing strong leadership and direction, through the development and strategy of Purolator’s Standards and Methods at a national level.   
This position is a highly visible role contributing to the company’s operational roadmap. With oversight at a national level, the incumbent will drive operational and transformational efficiency improvements using industry-leading standardization concepts through implementations and liaisons with cross-functional groups.
Responsibilities
-The creation and development of Purolator’s framework for all standards, processes, and Methods for Canada operations.
-Develop short and long-term plans to introduce change by prioritizing areas of impact in conjunction with available technology and synchronizing with cross-functional initiatives.
-Translate framework into actionable, operational tools and templates for deployment across the network.
-Managing a team of highly skilled and tenured engineers and business professionals, facilitating, and enabling them to perform to their potential.
-Evaluate operational attributes and organizational structure and create a framework for introducing areas of opportunity into business planning cycles and securing funding.
-Collaborate cross-functionally with department leads including transportation operations, field operations, health & safety, learning & development, finance, and IT to ensure synergy of processes and successful adoption of changes.
-Ongoing validation of use and effectiveness of the tools and framework deployed.
-Ongoing Definition of Standards and Methods used within Purolator’s operations.
Additional Responsibilities
-Collaborate with field engineering departments nationally to create a community of practice, governing tools, methods, and training to promote standard governance.
-Define job-specific methods for all facets of operations including management practices, sort employees, clerical employees, and courier drivers.
-Drive work simplification through methods and tools including digitization of operations environment, standard work to minimize learning curves, and creating timely and relevant metrics to connect work instructions and results.
-Update time studies and establish KPIs to incorporate into the business planning cycle.
-Contribute to and influence terminal and technology attributes of the future
-Conduct development and performance reviews for team members, providing ongoing support and accountability for achievement of established milestones.
-Lead, initiate, and support testing and implementation of new technologies and methodologies.
-Serve as change agent, and problem solver, and facilitate cross-functional activities with multi-level team members.
Qualifications:
-University degree or equivalent work experience.
-Minimum 10 years of courier industry-specific experience.
-In-depth knowledge and experience in parcel sortation strategic planning and industry best practices.
-In-depth knowledge and experience in last-mile delivery strategies and industry best practices.
-Proven experience working with all levels in an organization including senior management.
-Working knowledge of project planning and project management. Demonstrated experience in leading projects and teams.
-Experience in the integration of engineering and management principles, including developing and improving products or services, processes, facilities, information systems, work methods and performance standards, human resource planning, production planning, financial planning, and cost systems.
-Continuous improvement skill set including change leadership, process discipline, and managing teams that produce new processes or improve existing ones. Six Sigma/Lean Black Belt is an asset.
-Strong time management and demonstrated ability to deliver results.
-Ability to work with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and interests, including external vendors.
-Strong written reporting and verbal skills for one-on-one, and group communications, and presentation skills with the ability to direct and communicate business needs.
-Strong problem-solving, communication, team building, and people skills.
-Demonstrated understanding of time and motion studies and or time allowance measurements.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
-Must have the ability to travel within Canada up to 30%.
-Successful candidates do not need to be situated at our Mississauga Corporate Office.
